Terray has been built at the intersection from the moment it was founded, and we recently expanded our digital and visual footprint to reflect this. It takes everything to build a new platform that transforms the speed, cost, and, most importantly, success rate of small molecule drug discovery. Terray builds its own hardware, datasets, and AI to transform what is possible and speed new medicines to patients in need. We work at the intersection of experimentation and AI.

Last year, we introduced Terray’s EMMI (Experimentation Meets Machine Intelligence) platform for drug discovery. Just like the name, EMMI pairs high-quality experimentation with AI to solve problems others have not in small molecule drug discovery. EMMI has literally been built at the intersection, from the founding experimental hardware to the full-stack AI that drives every program at Terray.

The first component was revolutionary proprietary hardware that enables Terray to precisely measure the interaction between small molecules and targets of interest at incredible scale. To date, we’ve made >420B individual measurements that map to a dataset of >17B unique target-molecule interactions (as we measure ~25 replicates on average for data quality). That’s >50X more unique measurements than all public data.

This vast data opportunity required innovation in automated experimentation, data processing and analysis to fully leverage our unique ability to explore the dark areas of chemical space and to power hit identification models that have succeeded on over 90% of targets tested – many with no known binders. To rapidly optimize these structurally novel hits and capitalize on the potential to transform human health, Terray built a full-stack AI capable of generating molecules with desired properties that are readily synthesizable, predicting their properties in silico and selecting the optimal molecules for testing. Thanks to EMMI and our incredibly talented team with expertise ranging from machine learning and data engineering to robotics and automation, to structural biology and medicinal chemistry, to lean operations and more, Terray now operates at velocity across both its internal pipeline of novel medicines for treating inflammatory and immune diseases and its partnered pipeline in a variety of indications.
